Every Florida CAM license comes with an expiration date, which is mentioned on the document. To continue working as a community association manager in Florida, you need to renew your CAM license by the date it expires. FL CAM license renewal is easy. You can do it by undertaking CAM renewal courses either in the classroom or online.


The next Florida CAM license renewal is due on Sep. 30, 2024, meaning that you must complete 15 hours of state-approved CAM renewal courses by this date to function as a licensed Florida CAM. Once renewed, your license will be valid until Sep. 30, 2026, when you would be required to renew it again.


How Often do I Need to Renew my Community Association Manager License?


Every specialized profession that requires you to have a valid license has different rules regarding its license renewal period. When it comes to Florida CAM license renewal, your first notification of when the renewal is due is printed on the document itself.


The Department of Business & Professional Regulation regulates continuing education for FL CAM license renewal with Chapter 455 of Florida Statutes. The department monitors all continuing education and renewal of Florida CAM licenses to ensure full compliance.


In case you fail to submit proof of the required CAM renewal courses to the department by the license’s expiration date, you will not be able to renew your license. On the other hand, when you “Accept” the affirmation statement, you legally state that you now meet the continuing education requirement.


Renewal notice


While the renewal date for Florida CAM licenses is mentioned on each hardcopy, the good news is that the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation will post renewal notice to your address. The arrival of this notice in the mail is an indication that the expiration date for your license is impending, and you must meet the continuing education requirement for the Florida CAM license renewal.


As a general rule, the Florida CAM license renewal is due on Sep. 30 of every even-numbered year. It means that if you are holding a valid CAM license, it is bound to expire on Sep. 30, 2024. If the continuing education requirement for the FL CAM license renewal is not met by this date, your license will become null and void.


In case you got your license during Oct. 1, 2022, and Sep. 30, 2024, the requirement of continuing education for does not apply to you. However, you must still renew your license and pay the fee of $105.


Licenses that are not renewed become null and void. If you fail to renew it due to financial hardships or illness, you may appeal for its reinstatement. The council may approve or reject your appeal depending on the evidence.


Florida Community Association Manager (CAM) License Renewal Requirements


If you are a Florida CAM licensee, you must complete at least 15 hours of CAM renewal courses during each license renewal period. Each hour of the continuing education must comprise 50 minutes of instructions. This also includes the required hours spent at an approved legal seminar.


The CAM continuing education for license renewal includes the following courses:

  1. Legal updates – 3 hours of instruction

  2. Instruction on insurance & finance – 3 hours

  3. Managing and operating the community association’s physical property – 3 hours of instruction

  4. Instructions on human resource topics pertaining to community association management – 3 hours

  5. Additional instructions on relevant elective courses – 3 hours


Steps to Renew Your Florida CAM License


Here are the steps you must follow for the FL CAM license renewal:


Step 1: Undertake a minimum of 15 hours of CAM continuing education by Sep. 30, 2024.


Step 2: Submit the continued education proof online to the Department of Business & Professional Regulation after completing your course.


Step 3: Go to DBPR website and renew your license by following the instructions on the site.


Step 4: Pay the $105 FL CAM license renewal fee on the DBPR website, and you are done.


If you are a licensed Florida CAM, you must renew your license by the date mentioned on your hardcopy. If you fail to do so, your license will become null and void, and you would cease to function as a community association manager. To renew your license, you need to complete 15 hours of CAM renewal courses required by the DBPR and pay the license renewal fee of $105.
